MURDER MUSIC
Murder is a sperimental band and a creative collective consisted of Sheson Delay and Carlo Marrone.
After the ep Op.01 in Re, Murder presents the new album, Tu m'uccidi. Nine tracks in which they mix different music styles: noise, blues, new "dance lo fi" contaminations and Carlo Gesualdo's madrigals, exploring the vocal's dissonant movements and the emotional charge of his work. Tu m'uccidi is about death and love. The cd cover, instead, is part of a photographic project based on several themes: man-woman relationship, obsession of roles, transformation of relations and "short- circuits" in the contemporary society.
All themes that can be found in Carlo Gesualdo's work. He was a musician of the XVI century and also an uxoricide: he created a deep connection between his music and his life. Passion and death, sacred and profane love live in his compositions in a very actual way.
Murder decided to put one of his songs every three tracks: tu m'uccidi, the opening track, Responsorium and Moro, lasso. For this last track, Murder worked on Carlo Gesualdo' revisitation made by Salvatore Sciarrino, a contemporary composer with whom Sheson Delay had a collaboration.
Murder tells short stories in a black humor and noir style: in Dream, the woman's role gets a revenge in an ironic and unreal atmosphere, while a sensual femme fatale kills her naïve lover in Murder in a swimming pool. In Wear and tear there is still love: a slow deterioration of a love story until the death's desire. The last track of the album, Mnemosine lake, is about sexuality, genders and exaltation of individual freedom. All themes that vanishes in an introspective and "submerged" instrumental coda.
At the moment Murder is involved in different artistic collaborations: with Ester Grossi, artist, in the performance "Funeral", with Francesca Anita Modotti, videomaker, for whom Murder wrote the soundtrack of many videos, and with Luca Bellumore, photographer: together they are developing a photographic concept of which the cd cover's photo are part.
